Our current culture is marked by a global notion of mobility and the sharing of space. In such a culture, the act of translocation – moving places or position – is a daily occurrence. Through translocation we cultivate shared experiences of place, home and belonging.
In this exhibition, curated by Adriane and Verity Hayward, a group of artists look at how place affects cultural identity. Each artist – either personally or through family history – identifies with the experience of the diaspora and allows their experience to colour their works.
