Without doubt the Thai public is about to witness an extravaganza worthy of a Disney cartoon epic that will clearly demonstrate the innocence of a magnificently wealthy construction tycoon caught up in a hunting event (BP, Feb 7).
The hero will be nothing more than a man besotted with the beauty of Thai nature and its fauna who undertook the arduous task of a two-day, one-night, 30km trek all on his own but who got lost in the dark. He fortunately saw the bright lights and heard the voices of a group of unknown men and staggered into their camp in the hope of rescue.
He, of course, knew nothing of their ownership of guns and dead animals and was just hoping for a safe return to civilisation. It was all just a massive mistake and the police were confused.

Listen to both sides
I would like to thank Mr Grant for the information on landdestroyer.blogspot.com (PostBag, Feb 3). As "half truths" are readily available on most mainstream media I often have to look for the other part of "half truths" on the internet to get the whole picture. Republicans and Democrats tend to give different accounts regarding the release of the infamous memo on Donald Trump's presidential campaign. To make your own decision one needs to listen to both parties.
I am also very much interested in learning the origin of the funding of organisations and individuals promoting Nobel ideas. After all, he who pays the piper calls the tune. Unfortunately, while NGOs do often perform very important functions some media cherry pick the results of some of their funding and ignore the others. Again, it may be useful to use different sources or go to the original source to get the picture.

Seeking the truth
Re: "Taking down the West", (PostBag, Feb 6).
"Landdestroyer" is not my main source for information but it's okay to put together with mainstream media and other alternative media and then try to figure out how things probably are. It is always good to find out who is funding different media.
It is always important to know who is behind and funding a media outlet to make up your mind in an unbiased way. So I would be glad so see online links to information about who is funding and behind the online site Landdestroyer since Robin Grant has a clear picture of that, and the same for the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand which Mr Grant should have first-hand knowledge of. I am open to learning and adjusting.

Inept cops strike again
Pattaya police recently raided establishments frequented by foreigners and instructed proprietors and patrons that the licence to operate their establishment did not cover the playing of darts and, as such, was illegal. When asked where a licence could be obtained there was a negative reply. This reminds me of a similar situation some time ago when foreign retirees playing cards in a bridge club in Pattaya were arrested and spent time in cells for innocently passing the time by playing a card game.
My question is, in the light of the current police investigation into the world of massage and the trafficking of women, wouldn't more police time be better spent on these activities rather than chasing foreigners and expat pensioners who are innocently only passing the time? Or could it be the case that the Thai police force cares little about its image abroad?

Missing the bullseye
Is there no central control over Pattaya police? The Pattaya mayor allowed local police to confiscate dartboards and fine bar operators for not having a licence which does not even exist! Can he not see the derision heaped on this lawless set of law-enforcement officers in the world's press?
All the while, Pattaya meter taxis are allowed to ignore the laws of the land.

Made in the shade
Re: "Ex-top cop Somyot 'borrowed' B300m from brothel owner", (BP, Feb 6).
Now we have copgate. Why would a top cop need to borrow 300 million baht? If it smells shady, feels shady, it is. Do these high-ranking individuals have no respect for Thais in that they say anything and think they are to be believed.
