Lost horse found galloping near busy Newcastle Road is reunited with its owner

Police have confirmed a horse found galloping dangerously close to traffic in Newcastle has now been reunited with its owner.

Northumbria Police issued an appeal to track down the owner of the nag who officers came across by the roadside near Newcastle  Business Park at 7.25pm.

A member of the public concerned about the animal dialled 999 believing it had escaped from a nearby field.

Luckily, by the time officers got there, another member of the public had managed to secure the horse and bring it to safety away from the roadside.

Officers issued an appeal to the public last night to help track down the owners of the horse.

Northumbria Police has now confirmed the horse has been reunited with its owner.

A post on the force's social media reads: "Good news! We successfully traced the owner of the horse found near Balliol Business Park. Thanks for all your help in sharing our appeal."
