Lost Christmas gifts reunited with family after call for help to get presents home

A bag of lost presents discovered on a road today has been returned to their family after an appeal to get them home in time for Christmas.

Earlier, Glasgow Live reported that Derek Archibald discovered the gifts in the middle of the road while driving to work in Barrhead from East Kilbride.

Now, thanks to the power of the Internet and the help of our very lovely readers, the presents are back with the family.

Val Taylor got in touch with us after seeing our article and recognising her mum's handwriting. She confirmed that the presents were meant for her two nephews - Fergus and Douglas.

Unfortunately, the granny and grandad in question have already left to go down to Newcastle to visit their grandchildren, but Val was on hand to pick up the presents and promises they will be gifted this weekend, when the family comes up to Glasgow.

Val said: "I'm so delighted that someone made the effort to pick them up and try and bring them home.

"It's so nice that there are still honest people out there. I can't believe somebody stopped and went to all this trouble - it's also amazing that in a couple hours they were returned.

"I really just can't believe it - I'm in shock."

We love a happy ending here at Glasgow Live. We don't know about you, but this has us feeling all warm and Christmassy.
