Miranda July is certainly prolific. Although she dropped out of university because she wanted to figure it all out herself, her body of work spans fiction, monologue, and live performance art, and she’s received accolades at the highest levels in film, art and literature.
She won the Caméra D’or at the Cannes Film festival in 2005 and the prestigious Frank O’Connor International Short Story award in 2007 . Her videos and performances have been displayed at the Museum of Modern Art, the Guggenheim Museum and in two Whitney Biennales.
Last year her debut novel, The First Bad Man was published, and she toured her latest performance work New Society.
As part of Sydney’s All About Women festival, she will discuss the making of her art, from her earliest work as a young artist in Portland to her more recent success.
