Lost Boy viewers in tears all over again for murdered James Bulger

People were left heartbroken over James Bulger's tragic death all over again tonight, as a new documentary aired about the toddler's murder.

James died on February 12, 1993 after being killed by two 10-year-old boys, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, who lured him away from the Bootle Strand shopping centre.

Lost Boy: The Killing of James Bulger saw James' mum Denise Fergus say how much she'd always longed to be a mum and how loved James was.

Denise said she left the buggy at home for the first time ever as she went to Bootle Strand Shopping Centre on that fateful day in February 1993.

Denise said she decided to stop off at the butchers to get the tea in and as she let go of his hand to pay for her chops she saw that James had gone.

She frantically started to search for him in the centre, convinced he would be on one of the rides in the shopping centre.

As it started getting dark Denise said she had visions of him being outside freezing cold and that she "needed to get him back".

A large search began with police, taxi and bus drivers all searching for the two-year-old.

As detectives searched the stores and looked at the CCTV they were shocked as they saw two small boys walking James out of the shopping centre.

Denise then took part in a press conference where she tearfully begged for whoever had her baby to "bring him back."

But hours later James body was found.

And as they watched the documentary viewers were left in tears.

@kismuil said: "There have been countless child murders over the years, but none makes me cry more than the murder of baby James Bulger. His mother, Denise Fergus's pain still pierces your heart with the same depth as it did all those years ago. My heart breaks for her."

Michelle said: "It's only just started and already I'm in tears."
