Los Angeles Lakers are heavy favorites to land Anthony Davis

The Los Angeles Lakers are going to do just about anything they can to improve the roster after yet another disappointing NBA season. After signing LeBron James last season, many believed that the Lakers would, at the very least, contend for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

While there were a myriad of injuries that contributed to the Lakers disappointing season, they were far from the only reason the Lakers were on the outside looking in. The lack of shooting and the lack of talent up front are going to be two focal points in improving the team, and moving players for Anthony Davis is one of the ways they’ll look to rectify the latter.

With the Pelicans announcing that they’re officially taking offers for Anthony Davis, the Los Angeles Lakers are the odds-on favorites to land the Pelicans All-Star big man, according to Bleacher Report.

Should the Lakers find a way to trade for Davis, it’s very likely that they’ll lose a huge chunk of their young cour and the No. 4 overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft. The Pelicans are looking to get a deal done by the end of the week, likely in hopes to use the pick on their own terms instead of trading for whoever the Lakers take at 4.

If the Lakers are able to land Davis, expect them to be extremely aggressive in free agency to pair another max, or close to a max level wing or point guard to play with James and Davis.
