Los Angeles Chargers owner Dean Spanos has angrily denied claims that the NFL franchise could move across the pond to become London's first American Football outfit.
Reports from the Athletic on Tuesday suggested that the Chargers 'would listen' if the proposal was made by the NFL, with it added the league was considering the possibility.
Speculation about an NFL franchise has been present throughout the 13 years of International Series matches in the capital, which this year saw two games take place at Wembley Stadium and twice on Spurs' soil.
While the report did not mention which of those stadiums would be the 'home' ground if a franchise did move to London, the fact that Spurs have a specialised field would have likely led to speculation that Spurs would become the home of the Chargers.
However, that suggestion was strenuously denied by the Chargers owner, who made it clear a move away from Los Angeles would not be taking place.
"We're not going to London. We're not going anywhere. We're staying in Los Angeles," Chargers owner Dean Spanos said, with his quote opening with some choice words, "This is where we plan to be for a long time. Period."
The suggestion of the Chargers making a huge move comes amid concerns of their situation in the NFL, where poor attendances have often led to the visiting supporters outnumbering the home fans in the stadium.
The Chargers are set to move to a brand-spanking new stadium next year, which they will share with the Rams - who are owned by Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke.
