Lorry spills mountains of chocolate forcing police to close road

Hundreds of chocolate bars were spilled on to a busy main road after a lorry overturned in North Wales overnight.

There was so much chocolate, eyewitnesses at the scene said there was around "a tonne" of the sticky brown stuff on the road, while others said there was a "sweet smell in the air".

Police closed the road, on the A5104 near Treuddyn in Flintshire , for around an hour as they tried to collect the chocolate, cereal bars and nuts which had been strewn across the tarmac during the crash.

The piles of chocolate had to be cleared using diggers and loaders.

The lorry, which was carrying the confectionery cargo, crashed in the early hours of Wednesday morning and overturned into some railings.

No one was hurt in the incident.

The road was still closed on Wednesday afternoon while the piles of sweets were still being cleared.
