Lorry spills mountain of chocolate on road leaving 'sweet smell' in the air

A lorry has spilled a mountain of chocolate onto a main road leaving a sweet smell in the air.

The pile of chocolate, cereal bars and nuts fell out of the back of a lorry when it overturned and crashed through a set of railings on the A5104 last night.

One eye witness said a tonne of sweet products lay scattered across the road this morning as a result of the incident, leaving a sweet smell lingering in the air.

The road remains closed at present while the goods are recovered from the middle of the road by diggers.

Police have said that they were called to the incident at 12.38am and the driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.

In pictures taken at the scene the digger can be seen trying to move the mound of sweet goods and the road remains closed.

The lorry has since been removed from the scene at around 9am this morning.

Nobody is believed to have been hurt during the incident, North Wales Live reports.

The incident happened on the A5104 between Coed Talon Banks and Pontybodkin in Flintshire.

Photos and video footage from the scene show huge mounds of chocolate mixed up with nuts and carrier bags lying on the side of the street.

While a photo from another witness shows the overturned lorry before the recovery began during daylight hours today.

A number of slimming world chocolate bars were among the pile of sweet treats.
