A lorry has overturned on a major Ayrshire road after a crash with a car this morning.
The male driver of the HGV has subsequently been taken to hospital.
Pictures from the incident show a car crashed at the front of the huge overturned vehicle.
Emergency services raced to the scene on the A77, two miles south of Girvan around 11.05am. The recovery of the vehicles is still ongoing.
Amey, who maintain the south-west trunk roads on behalf of Transport Scotland, confirmed the obstruction on the busy route which services the ferry port of Cairnryan, Wigtownshire.
Motorists have been told to expect restrictions in both directions.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We were made aware of a crash involving a car and a lorry on the A77 between Girvan and Ballantrae shortly after 11.05am on Monday, December 13.
"The male driver of the lorry was to be taken to hospital and recovery has been arranged for the vehicles."
