Lorry lands on car in horror road crash in East Kilbride

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a road crash where a lorry appears to have toppled on to a car in East Kilbride.

Police and ambulance are currently in attendance on West Mains Road beside the College Milton industrial estate area of the town.

Worrying pictures show a lorry on top of a red car as a result from the apparent collision, meanwhile shocked locals watch on in concern.

Police have told Lanarkshire Livethat the incident involved two cars and a lorry.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area as emergency responders have blocked off the road.

The crash appears to have taken place in the middle of the road, with reportedly three ambulances and two police cars currently in attendance.

There has been no reported causalities at this time.

A police spokesperson said: “Around 1.30 pm on Monday, 2 August, police received a report of a road traffic incident involving a lorry and two cars at West Mains Road, East Kilbride.

“Police and SAS attended the scene. No-one was taken to hospital.

“Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident continue.”

An eyewitness who saw the truck mounted on the car told Lanarkshire Live: "There were three ambulances and a couple of police cars. They were blocking the road while dealing with it all, so it looks serious.

"It looked pretty bad, I saw a big blue lorry lying over the car as though it had fallen straight onto it right in the middle of the road.

"I really hope the person in the car is ok.

"Everyone driving up there was having to turn back and go a different way so best to avoid the area for now."

The Scottish Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.
