Lorry hits barrier on M4 causing heavy traffic around junction 33

A lorry crashed into a central barrier at a busy M4 junction this morning (November 28), causing disruption for commuters between Cardiff and Bristol.

The incident happened at around 5.30am at junction 33 Cardiff West which is where the motorway meets the busy A4232 road into Cardiff.

One lane was closed and traffic was already very slow by 6.30am.

South Wales Police shared pictures of the damage and said one lane northbound and southbound was closed.

South Wales Police issued the following statement earlier today: “Officers were called to a road traffic collision involving a lorry which had struck the central reservation barriers on the southbound section of the A4232 as it left junction 33 of the M4.

“There were lane closures put in place in both directions while the lorry was removed and the road made safe.”

The scene was clear by around 9am.
