Lorry driver protects motorway police responding to Jaguar crash

A lorry driver interrupted his journey to assist motorway police attending a crashed Jaguar last night.

The driver of the black Jaguar had lost control in wet weather on the M606 before Chain Bar roundabout.

West Yorkshire Police officer PC Dave Cant said the car had aqua planed before colliding with the central barrier and coming to a rest across lane one.

Thankfully the driver was not injured.

While PC Cant and Highways officers were recovering the vehicle, the driver of a blue recycling lorry parked in lane one before the scene of the crash.

This gave the night time traffic plenty of warning to pass in lane two.

The Jaguar appeared to have a burst right rear tyre and damage to the bodywork (WYPRPU)

PC Cant, known as Traffic Dave on Twitter, thanked the lorry driver on social media. He tweeted: "A big thanks to the lorry driver for blocking lane one and providing protection for us whilst Highways Yorkshire colleagues dragged the car onto the shoulder."

Photos from the scene showed damage to the rear, right side of the Jaguar.

One tyre appeared to be burst and bodywork was hanging loose.
