Lorry driver killed after crash near Glenapp Castle in South Ayrshire

A man has been killed following a lorry crash in South Ayrshire.

Police sealed off part of the A77 near Glenapp Castle, Ballantrae for seven hours yesterday following the horror incident.

The alarm had been raised at around 11.50am with the emergency services responding.

Officers have now confirmed that a 57-year-old man died following the incident.

His next of kin have been made aware.

The lorry was the only vehicle was involved in the crash.

No other injuries have been reported at this stage.

Police investigation teams reopened the road at around 7.30pm.

They have not released any further details of the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesman told the Daily Record: “A 57-year-old man has died following a crash involving a single vehicle, a lorry, on the A77 near Glenapp Castle, Ballantrae, which was reported around 11.50am on Tuesday, August 24."
