Lorry driver in hospital after ploughing through hedge and smashing into 17 parked cars

A lorry driver was rushed to hospital after veering off the road and s mashing into 17 vehicles in the car park of a Premier Inn hotel.

Footage of the aftermath of the smash shows more than a dozen wrecked vehicles outside the Doncaster hotel

The HGV driver reportedly swerved through a hedge into the car park after losing control while circling a roundabout at 7am yesterday (December 28).

The clip shows mangled vehicles with mechanical debris slung about the car park.

A lorry is also seen with significant damage to its front end, with a recovery truck also smashed up.

Along with dents and bumps covering the vehicles' metal chassis, window glass is seen caved in with front and back bumpers hanging off the cars.

In the video, eyewitnesses can also be seen walking around assessing the damage with at least 17 vehicles caught up in the crash.

Local residents said the smash had caused "absolute carnage" to the mangled vehicles, The Sun reports.

South Yorkshire Police confirmed there were no serious injuries and that hotel property and guests avoided injuries.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman told the Mirror: "Police were called to reports just before 7am yesterday, (Tuesday 28 December) that a lorry had collided with a number of parked cars at Lakeside in Doncaster.

"It is reported the lorry left the road and collided with the stationary vehicles. The driver of the lorry was taken to hospital, his injuries are not thought to be serious. There were no other reported injuries."
