Lorry driver has 'leg snapped' by thugs who fled scene in grey Audi

A lorry driver suffered a "serious leg injury" after he was attacked by two men in the street.

The emergency services were called out to Woodend Avenue in Hunts Cross at around 1.50pm on Saturday, July 24 following reports of an assault.

A witness told the ECHO that a lorry driver was "jumped" by two men who pulled him out his cab. The witness said that the victim screamed "they have snapped my leg" after the attack.

The victim, said to be the driver of a recovery truck, was attacked in broad daylight outside a parade of shops.

A local hairdresser said that the victim had just been in for a haircut prior to the attack. The man said: "Yes he had been in for a haircut.

"We didn’t really see anything. We didn’t even realise until the man screamed help and when we looked out a woman was calling an ambulance."

Police have now said that a man, 32, suffered a "serious leg injury" which required hospital treatment.

The force has said that the two men who carried out the attack are thought to have left the scene in a grey Audi.

Today ( Monday) a police spokesman said to the ECHO : "We are investigating after a 32 year-old man was assaulted in Hunts Cross. The man was on Woodend Avenue at around 1.50pm on Saturday 24th July, when he was approached by two unknown males and assaulted.

"The man suffered a serious leg injury which required hospital treatment. The two males are believed to have left the area in a grey Audi car. CCTV and witness enquiries have been carried out in the local area.
