Lorry driver airlifted to hospital after horror crash on A75

A lorry driver has been airlifted to hospital following a serious crash on the A75.

Emergency services raced to the scene between Newton Stewart and Stranraer at 1.10pm on Monday January 18 after a collision between a car and a lorry.

The road is currently closed westbound at Barlae and is expected to remain shut for some time.

People are being urged to avoid the area and remain patient if they are caught in traffic.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call today at 1304 hours to attend a road traffic collision on the A75.

"We dispatched two ambulances and an air ambulance to the scene. We airlifted one patient to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”

A police spokesperson said they were still on the scene with road diversions in place.
