Lorry crashes on A1 in horror smash as snow continues to cause travel chaos

A lorry has crashed on the A1 in East Lothian sparking travel chaos this morning.

Emergency services have raced to the scene after the HGV was involved in a road traffic collision at around 6.50am on the road to Edinburgh, northbound at Gladsmuir.

Police are currently on the scene and all lanes were restricted on the road between A198 Tranent and the B6363 Gladsmuir.

The road has now reopened to drivers but it is not yet clear if there have been any injuries as a result of the crash.

Police Scotland have been approached by the Daily Record for a comment.

It comes as Storm Darcy continues to wreak havoc across the country after further snowfall throughout the night.

A yellow weather warning remains in place for snow until 23.59pm tonight and cops are urging Scots to make essential journeys only.
