Lorry catches fire on M4 in Cardiff

Video footage has emerged of the moment a lorry caught on fire on the M4.

Traffic was busy for around an hour on the M4 after a lorry fire took place near Cardiff.

On Monday, two lanes were closed and there was very slow traffic on the M4 westbound from junction 30 at Cardiff Gate to the Coryton interchange at junction 32 following the incident.

Two lanes were initially closed but one re-opened just after 10am.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Fire & Rescue Service said: "At approximately 9.36am we received reports of a vehicle fire on the M4 westbound, junction 30 to junction 32 Coryton, Thornhill, in Cardiff.

"Crews attended the scene and extinguished the fire. A stop message was received at 10.16am."

By 10.45am traffic monitors said traffic had returned to normal as the lorry was recovered.
