Lorry crashes through M90 motorway barrier in Perth onto road below

A busy junction of the M90 southbound at Friarton Bridge, Perth was shut on Thursday morning after a lorry crashed through the safety barrier and plummeted onto the A912 slip road below.

The loaded vehicle, carrying potatoes, was heading along the flyover at Junction 10 leading from Friarton Bridge to Broxden at 7.20am on November 4, when it negotiated the severe curve to the right on the raised section of road.

It appears the load shifted and pulled cab over, sending the lorry down on its side, a drop of approximately 40 foot.

The HGV cab landed roof down, separating from the body of the truck.

Police Scotland officers attended the scene.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police were called to a crash on the A192 at approximately 7.20am.

"Officers attended the scene near the junction with the M90.

"Emergency services are in attendance and road closures are in place."

Southbound M90 road users are being told to expect delays. They are being diverted to head 4km to Junction 9, Bridge of Earn, come off and turn around, leaving the motorway at Junction 10.
