This is the moment when a lorry burst into flames on street in Glasgow. Fire crews raced to Great Western Road in Knightswood, near St Ninian's Primary School, after the alarm was raised at around 3pm on Friday.
Video footage taken from the scene showed the back end of the trailer tilted and completely engulfed in flames. Plumes of black smoke could be seen billowing up into the sky.
Four appliances quickly scrambled to the scene as firefighters battled the blaze. A picture taken after the fire was extinguished showed the blackened trailer completely destroyed.
The primary school confirmed children were safely evacuated from the premises following the incident. In a statement, seen by Glasgow Live, parents were told: "Thanks to everyone for your patience and calmness as we aimed to get children out and collected safely today in an emergency situation. Thankfully the fire was brought under control quickly."
No injuries were reported and the blaze which extinguished shortly before 5pm. It's understood emergency services currently remain in attendance.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: "Four appliances attended an HGV fire at Great Western Road in Glasgow. It was extinguished just before 5pm this evening and left in the hands of police and Glasgow roads department. No injuries were reported."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3pm on Friday, May 12, police received a report of a lorry fire on Great Western Road in Knightswood. There are no reports of any injuries and emergency services are on the scene."
