Lorraine viewers baffled by John Barrowman's accent as he explains before people 'complain to Ofcom'

Lorraine viewers were left baffled this morning as John Barrowman appeared on the show.

The Dancing On Ice judge joined ITV host Lorraine Kelly for a chat about the skating competition ahead of Musicals Week this Sunday.

But fans were distracted during the interview.

That's because John's accent appeared to 'change' for some who are used to watching him in various TV shows.

"Since when did John Barrowman have such a strong Scottish accent? #lorraine," wrote one.

Another said: "I’m confused, turned on TV to a VERY Glaswegian John Barrowman on #lorraine Does he change his accent depending who he is speaking to?"

"When was John Barrowman Scottish? #lorraine," a confused viewer asked.

John, 53, is technically Scottish-American after being born in Glasgow but moved to Illinois with his family at the age of eight.

The entertainer has previously spoken about how classmates mocked his native Scottish accent so he learned to speak with a general American accent.

He even mentioned it himself during the interview with Lorraine.

"I'm saying right now everyone, in case you complain to Ofcom, I'm speaking Scottish," he said as he laughed.

Lorraine replied: "You always do when you talk to me. I bring it out in you. That's what happens."

John said: "I know. People should get over it. Just deal with it."

But fans absolutely loved hearing his Scottish twang.

The show's TV reporter Ria Hebden even said: "I LOVE how @JohnBarrowman turns scottish every time he chats to @reallorraine Love him! @lorraine @dancingonice #dancingonice #lorraine."

"I love Scottish John Barrowman #Lorraine," another said.

A third joked: "John Barrowman’s Scottish accent is literally fighting its way out of his mouth."
