Lorraine's Christine Lampard raises parenting fears as she takes over ITV show

Christine Lampard expressed concerns over looking after children in boiling hot temperatures as she took over as host of Lorraine on Monday.

Lorraine Kelly, like other ITV colleagues like Susanna Reid, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, is on an extended leave of absence from her own show for summer, right after she was forced to miss a week due to contracting Covid.

Her time off screen has led to producers calling in a number of different hosts, the first of which was Good Morning Britain anchor Ranvir Singh, who was at the helm for a number of weeks and was in charge as a number of big Strictly announcements were made, as well as offering some rather cutting advice to this year's contestants.

However, at the end of Friday's show, which saw her joined by Love Island couple Adam Collard and Paige Thorne, Ranvir announced that it was her last programme in charge and she'd be handing over the reins to Christine, a regular presenter of Loose Women.

As she kicked off a new weeks on Lorraine and settled into life in the studio, former One Show host Christine was joined by TV medic Doctor Hilary Jones. Addressing the fine weather the UK joined over the weekend, with temperatures climbing above 30 in some parts, Christine remarked: ""If you were out in the sun this weekend, you might be waking up with sunburn this morning."

While she took a more light hearted tone, guest Dr Hilary had a clear word of warning for viewers at home who might be considering following the advice circulated on TikTok about good sunburn remedies. A clip on the social media platform urged people to use white wine vinegar but, shutting that theory down, Dr Hilary said: "Don't put vinegar on sore skin!"

He added that milk and black tea bags have been found to sooth sunburn and it was then tyhat Christine homed in on the fears she has over children being seriously sunburnt when the weather is so hot. She told him: " "I'm always thinking in case, God forbid, a child gets burnt which is my fear in this weather the past couple of weeks."

Elaborating on her fears, Christine said that she and husband, former Chelsea and England player, Frank Lampard, have been making sure their own kids, Patricia and Frederick, have been well covered up as temperatures rocketed.
