TV reporter caught out by 'Jurgen Klopp' during live video at Wembley

Good Morning Britain and Lorraine reporter Jonathan Swain was unfortunately caught out by mistaking a Jurgen Klopp lookalike for the actual Liverpool boss.

A doppelganger of the German was first spotted on Wembley Way ahead of yesterday’s Euro 2020 clash between England and Joachim Low’s side.

In fairness to Mr Swain, the fake Klopp donned a Liverpool baseball cap, a black Nike Reds jacket and a pair of black Adidas tracksuit bottoms in a very realistic portrayal of the manager.

Videos then emerged online of the lookalike drinking cans of beer and singing 'It's Coming Home' on the streets after the game as England fans celebrated a famous 2-0 win.

And it now appears the ITV man has been caught out by the lookalike after a posting a selfie with him on social media and recalling the day's events on this morning's Lorraine show.

Swain wrote on Twitter yesterday: "I think I might be alright for match commentary. #ENGGER #EUROS2020 #ComeOnEngland."

Before adding on this morning's show: "As I was going into the stadium last night, I caught up with Jurgen Klopp as well, the Liverpool manager. Of course he’s German.

"He was a great sport yesterday, chatting to many of the England fans.

"Even after the match, he was on the shoulder of some England supporters, drinking a can of beer. Just here, on Wembley way. What a tremendous chap he is."

It is not the first time the doppelganger has sent fans and social media into a frenzy after he was seen welcoming the Liverpool team bus to Anfield for their final game of the season against Crystal Palace last month.

The fake Klopp on that afternoon donned a Liverpool puffer coat, Adidas trainers and an official Reds baseball cap, with him even picking up a red flare and waving it above his head as the players passed by.

Second half goals from former Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling and Tottenham forward Harry Kane secured a memorable victory for Gareth Southgate’s side.

England now face Ukraine in the quarter-finals in Rome on Saturday after they scored a last-minute winner in extra time to beat Sweden at Hampden Park.
