Lorraine Kelly upsets viewers on This Morning after she brands UK 'a nation of fatsos'

Lorraine Kelly managed to upset viewers on This Morning after she branded the UK a nation of fatsos during a chat about health and fitness.

Glasgow born Lorraine, 61, was having a chat about exercise and diet with The Body Coach Joe Wicks, 34, who has gone viral and beyond with his online workouts and dietary advice.

Surrey born dad-of-two Joe has reached more than 100 million people around the globe with his workouts and has made more than 100 so far throughout lockdown.

Lorraine couldn't help but point out the issues people faced around Britain and was pretty blunt with her comment as she said: "It’s so important. We are fast becoming a nation of fatsos and we really have to do something about it, because when you are overweight, loads and loads of different illnesses and disease can then attack you.

"So it’s all about keeping yourself healthy and keeping yourself safe."

Joe who didn't appear to be fazed by her remark replied: "There’s two factors, the physical health, with diabetes and obesity, we’ve got issues there, but then I think at this moment in time, we have to be thinking about our mental health and the effect exercise has on your mood, your energy, that’s the true motivation.

"When you exercise to feel good… then the physical transformation comes."

After their chat people online said they were angry with Lorraine's comment, feeling that it wasn't a positive contribution to mental health and hardly likely to motivate.

As they asked her to 'Be kind' they wrote: "Ironic of #lorraine campaigning be kind then calls people “fatsos” on live television #unbelievable."

Another remarked: "#Lorraine a nation of fatsos! Nice motivation from #lorrainekelly."

A further volunteered: "Lorraine Kelly sitting on the telly and saying we’re all a nation of “Fatsos” and then promoting clothes to “hide your bum and tummy."

While another fizzed: "'We are becoming a nation of "Fatsos" #Lorraine wow"
