Lorraine Kelly unveiled her drag alter ego Morning Gloria after a special makeover to celebrate her 60th birthday.
The television presenter was transformed by the team from Channel 4’s Drag SOS in a special segment during Thursday’s episode of her chat show and described the makeover as a “lifetime ambition fulfilled.”
The experts took inspiration from Queen Elizabeth I for Kelly’s dramatic look, which featured white face paint, a crown and a striking orange wig.
The star wore a bright red dress with puffed sleeves and a tartan sash, and was draped in pearl necklaces.
“Oh my god, that’s amazing,” she said as her new persona was unveiled.
“Look at my hair - I’m going red! That is absolutely brilliant. I love it.”
The Drag SOS team revealed that they were inspired by Kelly’s reign as the queen of daytime TV and also wanted to nod to her Scottish roots.
“I’ve never felt more glamorous, more alive,” Kelly said. “It was amazing.”
The presenter also shot a front cover for Attitude magazine as Morning Gloria and said that “even [her] mother wouldn’t recognise” her in the images.
Attitude editor Cliff Joannou described Kelly as “a long time ally of ours, she’s always standing up for the community and she’s an Attitude award winner.
“Morning Gloria is incredible, almost quite scary. The way she’s transformed from lovely daytime Lorraine!”
