Lorraine Kelly delighted as Mystic Pig predicts Prime Minister Boris Johnson will resign

Lorraine Kelly was delighted on Thursday as a pig predicted that Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to resign.

Before the news was confirmed that Mr Johnson would be leaving No.10, the TV presenter enlisted the help of the infamous Mystic Pig.

Live footage of the animal showed it walking around in a pen with one board which read: "Stay" and another which read: "Go."

The pig immediately trotted over to "Go" and Lorraine, 62, was clearly very happy with the result.

“You might think that is very silly. But pigs are very intelligent, I think you’ll find," she announced.

"Well I think that's pretty definitive, the psychic pig has spoken," Lorraine said before adding: "You cannot argue with the mystic pig, Boris Johnson, it is time for you to go."

As she opened Thursday's edition of her ITV show, Lorraine had said: " Boris Johnson is still Prime Minister, despite 54 of his cabinet having resigned."

Speaking to political correspondent Jonathan Swain, who was stood outside No.10, Lorraine said: "Jonathan it's hard to keep up, you do wonder who is running the country!"

She continued: "We're hearing there might be an imminent resignation, not right away but it might be later on today."

Around 10 minutes later, Lorraine welcomed JLS star Aston Merrygold onto the show - but his interview was cut short as she explained they needed to cross over to ITV News.

However, by 10am the channel had resumed some sort of normality and Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield began presenting This Morning live from a forest.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV and ITV Hub.
