Lorraine Kelly slams Matt Hancock's reason for appearing on I'm A Celebrity as 'stupid'

Lorraine Kelly has slammed Matt Hancock's reason for appearing on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! as 'stupid' after he entered the jungle for the first time.

The Tory MP made his first public appearance on the ITV programme on Wednesday night with comedian Seann Walsh, earlier than planned following the shock exit of Olivia Attwood.

Former Health Secretary Matt was later quizzed by Loose Women host and ITV News presenter Charlene White, who asked him why he decided to take on the challenge Down Under.

He told Charlene he was in there because "there's so few ways in which politicians can show that we’re human beings".

And during a segment on ITV's Lorraine on Thursday morning, the TV icon was discussing last night's episode alongside former jungle campmate Christine Hamilton and Westminster insider Cleo Watson, who worked with the MP in government.

Cleo said: "He shouldn't be there and I felt his extraordinary answer to the first question he got 'why are you here' - he had an extremely long flight to really nail the answer to that.

"And I actually think he would have done himself a lot of favours if he said it's partly the money. Look I need to reinvent myself.

"Not going in and saying 'the government is stable'."

Lorraine steamed in and said: "I know, stupid thing to say."

Tonight on I'm A Celebrity, Matt will take part in his second trial Tentacles of Terror, which will see him locked in a cadge filling with water and surrounded by a number of creepie crawlies.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2022 continues tonight at 9pm on STV and STV Player.
