Furious Lorraine Kelly slams 'arrogant' Professor Neil Ferguson for breaking lockdown to meet lover

Lorraine Kelly has hit out at Professor Neil Ferguson for breaking lockdown to meet his lover.

The man nicknamed 'Professor Lockdown', having lead the Imperial College London team which produced the data that suggested 500,000 Brits could die of coronavirus without a rapid lockdown, has apologised for flouting Government guidelines.

After The Telegraph reported that that he allowed Antonia Staats to visit his home - who lives in a different house with her husband and two kids - Ferguson issued a public apology, saying: "I accept I made an error of judgement and took the wrong course of action.

""I have therefore stepped back from my involvement in Sage (Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies).

"I acted in the belief that I was immune, having tested positive for coronavirus and completely isolated myself for almost two weeks after developing symptoms.

"I deeply regret any undermining of the clear messages around the continued need for social distancing."

But his apology didn't wash with Lorraine. Lashing out at him on Wednesday's Good Morning Britain, she said: "I don't care who he sleeps with, it doesn't bother me one jot but no...not when the rest of us haven't seen our friends and family and are suffering. It's arrogant, so arrogant; what was he thinking?!"

In agreement, Doctor Hilary Jones replied: "It's such a shame to see anyone in such a position make an error of judgement. He knew what the consequences would be."
