Lorraine Kelly slams anti-lockdown protests as Kate Garraway been through 'hell'

Lorraine Kelly laid into anti-lockdown protests in London.

Infuriated, the presenter launched into a blistering tirade aimed at the 15,000 protesters at Trafalgar Square who rallied against the UK's coronavirus rules on Saturday.

Sympathetic Lorraine, 60, lamented Kate Garraway had been to hell and back with her husband Derek Draper's COVID-19 battle since he was admitted to hospital in March.

During her show, Lorraine voiced her opinion on the protests in a discussion with Dr. Hilary on Monday.

She raged: "I was fuming at the weekend! The protests!

"Wouldn't you like our Kate Garraway to have a wee word with [the protesters] and tell them about the hell she's been living through with her husband!"

Lorraine blasted the protesters as "absolutely ridiculous" and "totally irresponsible" following their actions on Saturday.

It comes after guests were banned from coming into the studios to film Lorraine amid the coronavirus spike in late September.

The UK is being rocked by the second wave of coronavirus.

A second phase of lockdown has been enforced which includes measures such as the rule of six and pubs closing at 10pm curfew.

These measures have been put in place to try and slow the spread of the coronavirus amid the pandemic raging across the world.
