Lorraine Kelly shares health update after taking sudden absence from ITV show

Lorraine Kelly has given fans an update on her health following her recent absence from her morning ITV show.

The Scots TV icon made a welcome return on Monday morning after taking half of last week when she was sent home from the London studio. Despite going to work as normal last Wednesday, the presenter was allegedly forced to leave before going live on air after becoming suddenly unwell.

The 63-year-old confirmed she would not be on her show after she failed to show up for her usual mid-show crossover with Good Morning Britain. She took to social media to let fans know she was "beyond disappointed" to miss her interview that day with Queen legend Adam Lambert, reported Manchester Evening News.

Lorraine wrote on social media: "When you have to be sent home from work early in the morning because you are suddenly attacked by a hideous bug and were looking forward to interviewing @adamlambert THAT!"

She then added: "Beyond disappointed but imagine if I had infected him !!!!!!" before fans came flooding in from her famous pals and caring followers.

The presenter was swiftly replaced by Ranvir Singh whom she thanked for jumping to the rescue. Whilst appearing on GMB to tease Monday's show, Ed Balls asked if she was feeling better.

"Much better, thank you," Lorraine responded.

"And can I say a massive thank you to Ranvir, who when I was sent home on Wednesday, rushed in and saved the day. Thank you so much, love, as always," she said before branding the former Strictly Come Dancing star as "superwoman".

It was soon time for her to get stuck into the first episode of the week of her own show as she gave a further update on her health while chatting to the show's resident GP, Dr Hilary Jones.

"Are you feeling better?" Dr Hilary asked as Lorraine brightly replied: "I'm fine. It was so weird last week because I came in and I was sent home." Dr Hilary then joked: "And the doctor was away on holiday."

Lorraine then went on: "It was just a bug. Usually, I can bat them away but this time it just... It was a cracker! It just got me but I'm all good," before pressing on with her busy show schedule as normal.
