ITV's Lorraine Kelly sent home sick as co-star forced to step in

Lorraine Kelly has been sent home from ITV studios sick as she is unable to present her morning chat show.

Kate Garraway and Ed Balls are hosting Wednesday's instalment of Good Morning Britain and announced that for the first time in 30 years, the Scots star was unable to continue due to illness. They told fans Ranvir Singh would be presenting her show instead.

The presenter took to Twitter to share her disappointment at missing work and told followers she came down with a 'hideous bug' and was unable to front the show.

She wrote: "When you have to be sent home from work early in the morning because you are suddenly attacked by a hideous bug and were looking forward to interviewing @adamlambert THAT! Beyond disappointed but imagine if I had infected him !!!!!!"

Fans took to the replies and sent Lorraine well-wishes as she recovers at home. One said: "Oh no! That IS disappointment indeed. He is amazing!!! But thank you for protecting @adamlambert and hope you feel better soon."

"Sorry to hear that Lorraine @adamlambert is SO missing out. Get well soon x," replied another. A third wrote: "Blimey hope ur ok xx"

A fourth tweeted: "I don’t know which I’d feel was worse…the bug or missing @adamlambert," while a fourth echoed: "Oh no get well soon @reallorraine Just means you will have to invite @adamlambert back."
