Lorraine Kelly says she asked husband to marry her in 'unromantic' proposal

Lorraine Kelly has revealed that she was the one to propose to her husband - and admitted that it wasn't the most romantic moment in the world.

The 61-year-old married husband Steve Smith back in 1991 and the pair share daughter Rosie together.

But speaking to GMB hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard today, she opened up about the proposal ahead of Valentine's Day at the weekend.

Ben had said: "Andi was telling us that Tower Bridge is one of the most popular spots for people to ask for people's hands in marriage. How did Stevie ask you to marry him?"

Lorraine exclaimed: "Do you know what? I think I asked! I think it was me! Isn't that awful. I can't really remember it.

"But I'm sure I was sitting one night and I said, 'Do you know what? I think we should.' It was one of those.

"It wasn't very romantic! But actually that doesn't matter."

"I like the fact that he's well-trained and does what he's told from the get-go," Kate joked.

Lorraine mimicked: "'Yes, yes dear'"

Ben laughed, adding: "It wasn't even a question, was it?"
