Lorraine Kelly says Seann Walsh must be ‘happiest man in the world’ as Matt Hancock ‘vilified’

Lorraine Kelly believes Seann Walsh will be buzzing he entered the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! alongside Matt Hancock - as the MP will have made him look even better.

The former Health Secretary faced huge public backlash ahead of the series, and was suspended from the Conservative Party as a result of his choice to do the show. After he was introduced to his fellow campmates on Wednesday night's episode, many were left divided over the MP entering the jungle - with Boy George even considering leaving the show.

Comedian Seann was likely feeling nervous ahead of entering camp after being involved in a cheating scandal during his stint on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018. The 36-year-old was photographed kissing his professional dance partner Katya Jones when they were both in relationships with other people.

Speaking of the new arrivals on the ITV reality show, Lorraine said: "It was all a bit awkward, wasn’t it? It was amusing in a weird way but he’s very keen to please isn’t he?" She added of Seann: "He must be the happiest man in the world, because he would have been vilified otherwise but now he’s just kind of giggling."

However, Seann didn’t get away too easily on the show, with Ant and Dec referencing the scandal and joking: "We all know what happened the last time Seann was paired up with someone on a reality show. Let’s hope he doesn’t try and get off with Matt Hancock."

Seann was left in stitches after Hancock’s arrival in the jungle, and warned his co-star that he didn’t think the other campmates would be his biggest fan. The MP faced a mixed reaction from the celebrities in camp as Loose Women's Charlene White grilled Hancock over his choice to come on the show, and Chris Moyles joked he had to double take to believe his eyes.

The comedian's cheating scandal which made headlines across the UK in 2018 is nothing compared to Hancock's time as Health Secretary during the coronavirus pandemic. The politician resigned after he was caught on CCTV footage breaking his own social distancing rules and kissing a colleague while cheating on his wife.

Seann was snapped kissing dance partner Katya outside a pub while he was in a relationship with Rebecca Humphries and she was married to fellow Strictly pro Neil Jones. Days after the photographed emerged, Rebecca released a statement on social media, revealing that the night that Sean cheated, she was sitting ‘alone at home’ on her birthday.

"We spoke and I told him, not for the first time, that his actions over the past three weeks had led me to believe something inappropriate was going on," she added. She also went on to accuse him of "inappropriate, hurtful behaviour", but added that she was now "free".

Both Seann and Katya issued public apologies about what they both referred to as a "one-off drunken mistake". Katya and Neil initially stayed together after the kiss scandal, but 10 months later, they confirmed that they had split after seven years of marriage.
