Lorraine Kelly 'sad' as Prince William and Harry's relationship 'left in the gutter'

Lorraine Kelly is finding the rumoured fallout between brothers Prince William and Harry all 'a bit sad'.

The Scottish star, 63, caught up with Russell Myers on her ITV show this morning, as the Royal Editor of the Daily Mirror and the show's host discussed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's new bombshell Netflix trailer.

Netflix are reported to have paid $100 million (£88 million) to the royal couple to capture the fly-on-the-wall series, with the first ever trailer for the upcoming tell-all dropping yesterday.

The timing of the Duke, 38 and the Duchess' trailer being released came as Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton arrived in Boston on Wednesday for a three-day royal tour.

Some, including Piers Morgan, have slammed Meghan and Harry for allowing Netflix to promote their new series as the future King of England attempts to win over Americans during his and Kate's mini tour.

Chatting with Russell on her show this morning regarding the rumoured rift between Prince William and his brother, Lorraine pondered: "This is sadly not going to help is it?"

Russell replied: "This relationship is in the gutter at the moment. I can't imagine the two brothers are talking - my understanding is William and Kate's camp had absolutely no idea this was going to happen.

"But again, you could have bet your house on the fact this was going to happen because it's been released to maximum impact. We've seen playground tactic employed by the couple - they knew this was a big deal for William and Kate but yet they've dropped [the trailer] in the middle of their tour."

"It really is sad," Lorraine admitted, "I don't think there is any way back."

The teaser for the upcoming Netflix series shows never-before-seen photos of Prince Harry and Meghan, who are parents to Archie and Lilibet, as well as snaps from their childhoods.

"Harry & Meghan. A Netflix Global Event. Coming soon, only on Netflix," the streaming giant captioned the trailer shared on Twitter yesterday lunchtime.

The Duchess of Sussex previously revealed how the documentary series will delve into the couple's love story as she said how viewers can expect "the piece of my life I haven't been able to share, that people haven't been able to see – our love story".

In the clip from the preview, Prince Harry can be heard saying: "No one sees what's happening behind closed doors," while a shot of Meghan crying while looking at her phone is shown.

The dad-of-two continues: "I had to do everything I could to protect my family."

Meghan can then be heard saying: "When the stakes are this high, doesn't it make more sense to hear our story from us?"

Fans of the couple quickly replied to the tweet, declaring how they will certainly be tuning into the bombshell series later this month.

"After everything these two have been through together the passed 6 years I love the fact that they're able to tell their own story," one future viewer wrote online as the trailer dropped.

"All the hate on this thread shows just how relevant they are so keep on hating. We love them over here," another added, as a third quipped: "This about to have some people mad....and I'm here for it."
