Lorraine Kelly's rare scathing reaction to Prince Harry and Meghan quitting public life

Lorraine Kelly got riled up about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to quit public life.

The telly presenter, 60, wasn't shy about making her thoughts known after the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex shared they were taking a step back from their roles as Senior Royals.

In their defence, the chat show host shared her disappointment as she lamented the couple had been doing a "good job".

Lorraine quipped Harry and Meghan were "clearly very unhappy and miserable" because of the drastic action they had decided to take.

She said: "I think they [Harry and Meghan] were doing a good job.

"They're clearly very unhappy and miserable."

It has been all everyone could talk about since Meghan and Harry made their plans to bow out of the limelight public in an unexpected statement on Wednesday on Instagram .

The statement read: "We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen."

Later, Lorraine expressed her sadness at the Royals leaving behind the UK when she discussed the news with Mary Berry on Thursday's segment of her chat show.

"It's just a bit sad isn't it," she probed.

Having a close relationship to the Royal family , the baking star emphasised it was "very sad" when she spoke out for the first time on the news.

"It's very sad," Mary said.

"They are just like you and me. They love each other and want to do everything they can for the country. I promise you."

The baker joined forces with Kate Middleton for A Berry Royal Christmas.

Full of fondness, Duchess of Cambridge Kate shared Mary was one of Prince Louis' first words because he recognised the TV chef on her cookbook in the kitchen.
