Lorraine Kelly reveals daughter Rosie has 'self-isolated' in Singapore amidst global Coronavirus fears

Lorraine Kelly revealed her daughter has 'self-isolated' in Singapore amidst worldwide Coronavirus fears.

The Scots TV presenter told viewers of her ITV show this morning that Rosie, 25, had put herself on lockdown after falling ill.

Speaking during a segment which discussed the best practice for those who are concerned they have contracted the deadly infection, Lorraine said: "My Rosie has got a cold, she's in Singapore as you know, she's self-isolating."

Lorraine , 60, added that husband Steve had sent her photos from Heathrow Airport before heading out to visit his daughter, who lives and works in the south east Asian country.

Lorraine added: "Steve is going over to see her and the airport is empty."

Lorraine's comments come as millions of residents across south east Asia opt to work from home amidst the epidemic.

And former Edinburgh Napier University student Rosie's decision to play it safe comes as the global coronavirus death toll hits 3,000 following a sudden spike in Italian cases.

There are 36 confirmed cases in the UK so far, including one in Scotland.

The virus, known as Covid-19, has infected in excess of 85,000 people across 47 countries.

Nicola Sturgeon says Scotland is 'ready for a significant outbreak of coronavirus' as she heads to a cobra meeting today.

The First Minister chaired a meeting of the Scottish Government Resilience Committee (SGoRR) on Sunday evening and is expected to take part in the UK Government's Cobra meeting chaired by Boris Johnson later today.

Sturgeon said: "Scotland is well-prepared for a significant outbreak of coronavirus but there is currently no treatment or vaccine.

"Early detection measures will continue to be vital in helping to prevent the spread of the virus.

"People have a vital role to play in helping us contain any outbreak by following the latest health and travel advice, and following basic hygiene precautions, such as washing hands frequently, not touching their face and covering their nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing."
