Lorraine Kelly has opened up about her relief at her dad receiving the coronavirus vaccine.
The 61-year-old revealed the good news while speaking to Dr Hilary Jones on the ITV show today.
She said: "It’s really good news that the vaccine continues to get rolled out.
"My dad got his call, he’s getting it tomorrow. I am so relieved that he’s going to get it as he is very high-risk. Phew, so that’s starting to happen."
Dr Hilary revealed that his own mum had also had the vaccine.
He said: "Absolutely, my 95-year-old mother had it herself last week. So 6.6million vaccinations have now been carried out so 80% of the over 80s in this country.
"It’s really good. I know for a fact that the centres distributing the vaccines are so efficient.
"Everyone I know, all my patients that have gone to these sites saying, 'It’s so well organised, the marshalls are polite, they’re efficient, it’s on time, I wasn’t kept waiting around, I waited my 15 minutes and then left, the doctors are so careful with explaining everything to me'."
Earlier on today, vaccine minister Nadhim Zahawi appeared on Good Morning Britain to reassure viewers about the vaccine roll-out and the efficacy of the Astra Zeneca vaccine.
But he left hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan shocked when he revealed that his uncle died of Covid-19 last week.
"I lost my uncle to Covid last week," he said. "It is grim and horrible but our way out of this is the vaccination programme. It makes me angry but it makes me determined to make sure that we vaccinate the most vulnerable people out there.
"Protect them as quickly as possible and then protect the whole nation. That is our way out of this and that is what we will ultimately do. I promise you, I will make sure that happens."
