Lorraine Kelly issues powerful response after Katie Price charged in car crash

Lorraine Kelly has spoken out about Katie Price's recent crash after she was charged by the police.

The daytime presenter reacted to the news on her show, after Katie's family released a statement expressing their concerns.

It read: "As a family we have for some time been concerned about Kate's wellbeing and overall mental health. Today our worst fears nearly came true.

"As a family we have been and will continue to help Kate get the help she needs. We hope that she will realise that she cannot battle her issues alone."

The television star and former model was charged with driving while disqualified on Wednesday, a day after the crash.

As reported by Birmingham Live, Lorraine said that the incident might have been a "wake up call, but a really horrible one".

She stated: "It follows the news she was involved in a car crash in the early hours of yesterday morning. Her family are really worried about her.

"But she shouldn't have been behind the wheel at all."

She continued: "She was lucky, but she shouldn't have been by the wheel.

"I hope she does get the help that she clearly, clearly needs.

"Maybe this is a wake up call, but a really horrible one."

Appearing on ITV's Good Morning Britain on Monday, Price said she is banned from driving until the end of the year.

A statement from Sussex Police said: "Katie Price, 43, of Worthing Road, Horsham, was charged with using a motor vehicle on a public place without third party insurance and driving whilst disqualified.

"She was remanded in custody and will appear at Crawley Remand Court on Wednesday (September 29)."
