ITV's Lorraine Kelly hits back at Strictly rumours 'more chance of being on Love Island'

Lorraine Kelly has joked that there's more chance of her being a contestant on Love Island than being asked to do Strictly Come Dancing. That's despite the queen of breakfast TV being a bookies favourite to waltz across the dancefloor when the hit BBC show returns this autumn.

Scots TV host Lorraine, 62, took to Twitter after being tipped as the latest celeb to be added to the 2022 line-up, saying: "Aye right! - I love Strictly but there’s more chance of me being a contestant on Love Island."

Coral have her at 3/1 to join the likes of Scots Loose Women host Kaye Adams, former Coronations Street stars Kym Marsh and Will Mellor. Adams, from Grangemouth, says she hopes to be matched with a gay professional dancer when she gets her official partner.

Mum-of-two Kaye, 59, told the Mirror : "I don’t want a heterosexual. I would feel embarrassed for them – because a young, hot heterosexual will be like he’s dancing with his mum. But if I got a nice gay guy, he’ll be fine with dancing with his mum."

Lorraine addressed the reports on her Twitter (ITV Lorraine / Ken McKay)

Kaye also accepts she could be ditched in the show’s first week but is going to enjoy it regardless. She added: "I’m worried it’s going to look tragic, a woman of my age – the whole thing about trying to appear dancey when you’re older. There’s absolutely no shame being voted out in the first week. My goal is to try to enjoy it."

Comic Jayde Adams, 27, is the fifth celebrity to be named for Strictly, which starts next month, along with Corrie stars Will Mellor, 46, and Kym Marsh, 46, and Radio 2’s travel host Richie Anderson, 34.
