Lorraine Kelly goes on on-air rant over government wanting to 'save Christmas'

Lorraine Kelly had a bit of a rant during Good Morning Britain on Thursday.

The ITV presenter appeared on the news show ahead of her own show on the same channel.

She raged about the government's "woolliness" about Christmas after lockdown.

The 60-year-old complained about the government's "woolliness" and attempts to 'save Christmas' following the month-long lockdown in England.

GMB hosts Ben Shephard and Susanna Reid asked Lorraine for her thoughts after they interviewed defence secretary Ben Wallace on their programme in which he was asked about Christmas and reports rules will be relaxed for the festive period.

Ben said: "Lorraine, you were there. You heard what he had to say. Sounds like he is, sort of, cautiously suggesting that actually, they know [going ahead with Christmas as normal] it's not the right thing to do."

Lorraine hit back: "Can I just say, cautiously? No.

"I am getting so frustrated with this, and I know how important Christmas is, I appreciate that.

"But can we stop this woolliness and trying to be nice, and wanting to be loved and liked, they're leaders, they're in charge, say what is right for the country and what is going to save lives."

Throwing her arms in the air, she continued: "What's more important? Having a dinner and being with your family, I know how important that is believe you and me, or keeping everybody safe?

"It's a no brainer so just stop waffling about and just say it as it is. That's it, it's gone. Sorry, you have to be with a smaller amount of people this year, that's going to be hard but it means that actually in the New Year we'll get over this quicker."

Ben then joked in response: "Lorraine Kelly for Prime Minister," much to Lorraine and Susanna's amusement.

"Sorry but it just drives me crazy," Lorraine said. "I just can't be doing with all the wooliness."
