Lorraine Kelly gives very honest verdict on Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's decision to quit royal life

Lorraine Kelly has made her feeling clear on stepping down from public life.

The veteran Scots presenter gave her honest evaluation about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quitting their roles as Senior Royals, saying they must be "unhappy and miserable".

It is clear the 60-year-old is a fan of the pair, bemoaning that they had been doing a "good job" before their shock annoucement.

It comes after Harry and Meghan released a statement revealing they planned to become financially independent but would still support the Queen.

Talking on Good Morning Britain, Lorraine said: "I think they [Harry and Meghan] were doing a good job.

"They're clearly very unhappy and miserable."

It has been all everyone could talk about since Meghan and Harry made their plans to bow out of the limelight public in an unexpected statement on Wednesday on  Instagram  .

The statement read: "We intend to step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen."

Lorraine went on to further express her sadness at the Royals leaving behind the UK when she discussed the news with Mary Berry on Thursday's segment of her chat show.

"It's just a bit sad isn't it," she probed.

Having a close relationship to the Royal family, the baking star emphasised it was "very sad" when she spoke out for the first time on the news.

"It's very sad," Mary said.

"They are just like you and me. They love each other and want to do everything they can for the country. I promise you."
