Lorraine Kelly giggles at Brooklyn Beckham's 'cooking segment' on US TV

Lorraine Kelly couldn't resist having a laugh at Brooklyn Beckham's US TV show cooking segment as she hosted her own ITV show on Thursday morning.

The presenter was keen to talk about the 22-year-old's recent appearance as she chatted to Ross King live in Los Angeles.

Social media had a brutal reaction to poor Brooklyn's slot on the Today show on Wednesday morning, as the aspiring culinary star displayed his cooking skills during the broadcast by making a sandwich.

Victoria and David Beckham 's eldest child didn't exactly impress viewers with his 'recipe' for an English breakfast sandwich on the American breakfast TV programme.

Despite joining Today hosts Hoda Kotb and Carson Daly for a cooking segment, the young star actually did very little cooking live on-air - instead assembling a sandwich of pre-cooked meat.

Lorraine and Ross were baffled at the scenes, with Ross describing it as "toe-curling".

"Oh the wee soul, he looked all embarrassed. And you're right, it was them making him make a sandwich," Lorraine said after watching the clip.

"He's coming in here tomorrow to make beans on toast!" she giggled.

"I mean that would be like us doing that to him isn't it? 'Oh come on in and fry a burger', what's the wee soul supposed to do?" she added.

During the appearance, Brooklyn confessed that the recipe for the dish - which consists of bacon, sausage and egg sandwiched between two pieces of bread - is something that has been in his family for generations, and that he learned how to cook the butty thanks to his great-grandmother.

Explaining that he developed a passion for cooking while in lockdown last year, Brooklyn talked viewers and the show's hosts through the construction of the easy-to-assemble breakfast delicacy.

Thanks to a clip of his TV appearance being shared on Twitter, viewers from both sides of the Atlantic where able to pass judgement on the aspiring chef's cooking skills - with many not impressed by the young star.

"Brooklyn Beckham went on tv to show his culinary skills and cooked……a breakfast sandwich. I am done!" one critic tweeted after the show aired on Wednesday.

"Embarrassing for everyone involved," another viewer mused, adding: "Who paid who to get this aired?"

A third unimpressed viewer sarcastically quipped: ".....and next on 'Today' social media sensation Brooklyn Beckham will be showing us how to boil a kettle."

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
