Lorraine Kelly 'fuming' over curfew crowds on city streets

Lorraine Kelly has hit out at crowds of people gathering in the streets at the weekend following the introduction of the 10pm curfew.

Speaking today on her show, Lorraine said she was "fuming" at footage captured all over the UK of punters crowding the streets.

Large crowds were pictured on social media of city centres as pubs, bars and restaurants all closed at 10pm under the new curfew rules at the weekend.

Punters said cities were 'the busiest they'd seen it in months', as customers were asked to leave hospitality at the same time, in accordance with the latest government restrictions imposed earlier last week.

Photos shared on social media showed crowds at train stations and people queuing outside licences and to get onto public transport.

Speaking to resident ITV doctor, Dr Hilary Jones, Lorraine said people should "use their common sense".

Referencing footage of coronavirus protests, Lorraine added: "I was fuming at the weekend... wouldn't you like Kate Garraway to have a word with them and share the hell she's been through?"

Kate Garraway's husband Derek Draper was diagnosed with coronavirus back in March and still remains in hospital.

Derek has lost eight stone since being rushed to hospital with coronavirus on March 29.

He no longer has the condition, but the disease has had a devastating effect on his body and doctors do not know when - or if - he will be able to fully recover.

*Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV from 9am
