Lorraine Kelly forced to deny she boycotted NTAs over snub after Piers Morgan claim

Piers Morgan claimed he wasn't the only one to boycott the National Television Awards 2020 on Tuesday night.

During Good Morning Britain on Wednesday morning, the host put Lorraine Kelly on the spot as he accused her of taking the same action - after his confession he would not be going because the same people won every year.

Lorraine's daytime show wasn't nominated for an award, unlike GMB and winner This Morning.

But as Susanna Reid and Piers asked her why she wasn't in attendance, not everyone was happy with her response.

Piers Morgan accused Lorraine Kelly of boycotting the National Television Awards (ITV)

She said how she simply didn't go suggesting there was no real reason for it.

But Piers quickly claimed she boycotted the ceremony like he did, and wouldn't believe otherwise.

Lorraine appeared a little red-faced at being put on the spot, as Piers tried to get an answer out of her.

Lorraine denied boycotting the NTAs (ITV)

Piers said: "Because you and I boycotted it, didn't we."

Lorraine responded: "No, I didn't boycott it I just didn't go. I didn't want to."

Andi Peters quipped: "You say boycott, I say I didn't go."

Good Morning Britain's Piers Morgan hit out at Ant and Dec, and This Morning (ITV)

Piers repeated how "they didn't go to the ceremony for the same reasons".

Lorraine added: "At least you got nominated, we didn't even get nominated."

It comes after Piers mocked Ant and Dec as well as the This Morning teams over their wins.

Piers appeared to fuel claims of a rift between the This Morning presenters, while also imitating their speech.

He then said Ant and Dec's Best Presenter win "made him feel sick".

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
