Lorraine Kelly forced to address possible new career move on Good Morning Britain

Lorraine Kelly was forced to rule out a career change on Thursday's instalment of Good Morning Britain.

Viewers tuned in to see Kate Garraway and Adil Ray at the helm of the popular ITV morning show. As ever, the hosts dropped in on Lorraine Kelly ahead of her show beginning at 9am.

And after the news Anne Robinson has quit her role as Countdown host, the conversation soon turned to who could take over to front the Channel 4 show. Adil dropped some suggestions into the mix.

He said: "We're speaking to Sandi Toksvig later, people are tipping her to be the host of Countdown." Lorraine agreed the move would be a "good idea".

Adil continued: "People have mentioned Carol Vorderman... it's just occurred to me, Lorraine Kelly." Kate Garraway jumped in and said: "Actually you'd be great."

Adil added: "You'd be amazing". But Lorraine wasn't convinced. She said: "Do you not think it'd be too much? The morning and the afternoon."

Adil said she might "need a jetpack" to get between the two studios. But Lorraine refused to entertain the idea, adding: "Sandi or Carol, either of them would be a great shout. They're fab".

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV and the ITV Hub
