Lorraine Kelly doesn't think Prince William is 'right at all' on space travel and climate change

Lorraine Kelly has revealed she strongly disagrees with Prince William's thoughts regarding space travel and climate change.

Following the news that Star Trek actor William Shatner had become the oldest man to ever be launched into orbit, the Duke of Cambridge stated that the human race should put its focus into tackling the climate crisis rather than exploring the expanse beyond Earth.

However, the daytime presenter has now hit back at the Royal's comments whilst in conversation with physicist and space scientist Maggie Aderin-Pocock, stating that she doesn't agree with him "at all".

The ITV host argued that exploring the world beyond our planet has given the human race knowledge that has "enhanced our lives", as reported by the Daily Record.

She also told Aderin-Pocock that she watched the Star Trek's actor flight into orbit in "excitement" and "terror", and revealed that she wanted to be launched into space herself.

Kelly said: "Prince William has had a bit of a go and I don't agree with him at all because I think space travel has given us so much knowledge.

"It’s enhanced our lives, the things that we have learned about climate change, about communications, all of these things.

"And going into space is more about what we can do for the Earth, actually, I think people forget that sometimes. So I wouldn’t agree with him at all."

Aderin-Pocock said she understood Prince William’s view but that climate change shouldn't be the only thing humans focus on.

She added: "But it can’t be our only focus. Space is inspirational."

Kelly said: "I watched it live with a mix of excitement and terror. I want to do it. Let's the two of us do it Maggie. This has captured the imagination of the whole world.

"It's not one or the other Maggie. I hear what he's saying. I appreciate it but I don't think it's right at all. I think this is one of the most important things that has happened and i don't think I'm exaggerating that. I did get very emotional and I shed a tear.

"It brought back memories of Star Trek. It was a joyful moment and one we should celebrate."
