Lorraine Kelly 'body shames' Shayne Ward for 'piling on the pounds' at Coronation Street

Lorraine Kelly has called out Shayne Ward for "piling on the pounds" at Coronation Street .

The Aidan Connor actor, who left the soap in May 2018 in heartbreaking suicide scenes, unveiled his three-and-a half stone weight loss at the end of last year.

Shayne admitted he had ditched his "dad bod" after feeling self-conscious in a saucy snap that showed off his sexy six pack.

On today's Lorraine, the Scottish TV presenter very bluntly told Shayne that he "doesn't miss the canteen".

When asking about leaving Corrie, Lorraine said: "I tell you what maybe one thing you don't miss is the canteen, Shanye. Because lets be honest you piled on a few pounds."

Holding his hands up, Shayne confessed: "I did. Proudly so. That's three years of dunking biscuits in Corrie."

But Lorraine did admit that he still looked good at his previous weight after seeing a saucy snap of the actor in just a towel.

She said: "And look at you now though. I tell you what you still look pretty good to me in that towel there. You look alright."

Shayne revealed that he had lost three-and-a-half stone, while fiancee Sophie shed a little over three stone.

Revealing their secret, he said: "Sophie is doing it with me. She cooks fresh food every single day. A lot of it is common sense and food. It's very easy to fall into the trap."

Shayne's next role is in the stage version of Band Of Gold - and he believes writer Kay Mellor has captured the intensity of the 90s show.

On his Corrie exit, he added: "It was incredible and rightly so. We had to tackle such a scary taboo - that guys don't talk and still don't talk.

"I still get inundated with incredible messages of bravery from men saying thank you and the whole team as a collective."

*Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV at 9am
