Lorraine Kelly blasts 'pathetic' MPs and 'outrageous' Corbyn vs Johnson debate

Lorraine Kelly has taken aim at MPs who refuse to appear on Good Morning Britain ahead of the general election next month.

She also took the opportunity to blast prime minister Boris Johnson and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, over their "dull" and "underwhelming" televised debate.

Days on from her hitting out at Johnson's "friend" Jennifer Arcuri live on air, she delivered another political rant.

This time she took aim not only at the political party leaders wanting the public's votes, but also members of each party who have avoided appearing on GMB when approached to discuss the looming election.

As Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid handed over to Lorraine, they asked her what she thought about the fact that Labour's Jonathan Ashworth willingly appeared on the show, while members of other parties declined.

Lorraine was quick to hit out at the move, calling the Conservatives "terrible" for not using the platform to outline their policies to those voting.

She quipped: "Shame on them, and good for you. That is terrible that they're not coming on, it's outrageous."

Piers told her: "It's pathetic... it makes my blood boil," with Lorraine agreeing: "It is."

As Piers confessed his annoyance that the MPs from other parties had refused to come on, insisting they should be outlining their party policies to viewers ahead of the election, Lorraine hit out once more.

She slammed: "It's ridiculous, shame on them and shame on that debate last night. That debate was terrible, it was underwhelming. Absolutely outrageous. I was shouting at the television."

Later on her own show, the host spoke with ITV News and GMB's Ranvir Singh about the debate, hitting out at Corbyn and Johnson and even blasting their handshake.

She commented that the TV debate was "dull", adding: "I didn't learn anything."

On the leaders shaking hands, she said: "That handshake though, how ghastly was that. That kind of summed it all up though, how excruciating.

"I don't even know why they had to do that, it was horrible."

Lorraine airs weekdays at 8:30am on ITV.
